He joined Nippon Oil Corporation in 1994. During his roughly 30-year career with JX Nippon, he has been engaged in a wide range of oil and gas businesses including retail sales, LNG, corporate planning, and exploration. Currently, he leads a project to launch CCS in Japan. While working as a business person, he became interested in the relationship between energy consumption and development of human society, and compiled his findings and thoughts into a book, "A Long Journey Concerning Energy: The History of Civilization and Our Future" (Eiji Press, 2021).
